Year 9 Ako

This term has flown by in 9Ako!

We have enjoyed meeting and learning about our new learners and meeting whānau at the Parent, Student, Teacher Conferences. Mrs Raj arrived last week from Fiji and has hit the ground running. She has spent this week getting to know her Hapori class as well the other students that make up 9Ako.

Our theme for the term is culture and diversity. We started by looking at our own values as these are a big part of who we are, they are the roots that support us as we grow. Students then looked at their family's values and were asked to come home and talk to you about this.

We continued to look at values and how they shape us, our families and our communities. Learners have started their assessment for this term which will be displayed at the end of term Exhibition Evening. Students will be writing about their values and contributing towards a collaborative piece of art which will be designed by the students to reflect their Hapori class.

Year 9 were incredibly lucky to be invited to attend the Sail GP Inspire event held at Lincoln University. We are extremely grateful to both organisations as our students were able to attend for free with the buses and a hangi lunch provided for us. Students were able to hear from a panel of sports professionals, not only about their lives as professional athletes but also about the degrees they had obtained from Lincoln University.
