Lawn Bowls

On Wednesday the 15th March Oscar Smith took part in the Canterbury Secondary school singles Lawn Bowls tournament held at Morrison Ave Bowling Club.

The weather was perfect for Lawn Bowls and the green was in top condition.

1st game was a tough loss to a very good competitor.

2nd Game was a close game with Oscar holding the lead 9 – 6 but unfortunately resulted in a loss in the last 2 ends.

3rd game was a great 15 – 3 win which means Oscar finished with a win and 2 losses and placed 9th overall.

This was Oscar's first singles tournament, and he learnt a lot which will put him in good stead for next year’s competition which he is looking forward too already.

We are very thankful to Mr Mower who has agreed to help coach Oscar over the remainder of the bowls season and through Winter in preparation for next year.

On another note, Oscar has secured a club 4s title and competed in the Champion of Champions with his local club Southbridge and was also part of the Southbridge team which won the Chatterton Cup in the Ellesmere Saturday competition!
