Volleyball

Two weekends ago our Senior A Volleyball team attended the Canterbury Senior Championships

The team was entered into division two, which ended up being two grades above where they usually played. Below is a report of the three days:

Day One:

Tough day down at the volleyball court today. The boys have played extremely well in all three games considering we are playing up two grades from normal! We went down in all three of our games but improved throughout the day

We are now playing off for 9th-13th which should mean some more evenly matched games.

Day Two:

Big day on the tools today for the boys. Officially 11 hours at the courts! We went down in our first game 3-1 against Hillmorton who we played yesterday and lost 3-0. We convincingly took the first set today but unfortunately the errors started to creep in.

Our second game was a 5 set doozy. After being down 2-0 the boys fought back to send it to a decider where we had 4 opportunities to seal the game but unfortunately a controversial net touch call sealed the deal and we lost 3-2.

A 3 hour gap between games was never going to be our friend and a very tired team went down 3-0 against a strong Middleton side.

Day Three:

We have a win on the board! The boys convincingly beat Hillmorton B today 3-0. This means that we finished 12th at the Canterbury Champs and have some promise in the future with a small group of year 12s keen to carry on next year.

We are looking forward to improving our Volleyball program with a strong group of year 10 and year 12 boys wanting to carry on playing as a team.
