Future Problem Solving Nationals
Congratulations Year 6 FPS Students - 3rd Place in New Zealand!!
Last weekend when Christchurch was experiencing unseasonably hot weather, four Year 6 Future Problem Solvers were enveloped in an intellectual heat of their own in Auckland at the Global Issues Problem Solving - National Finals.
Our team of: Jago W, Billy G, Christian B and Yul K flew to Auckland, accompanied by myself and parent volunteer Malcolm Wallace on Friday 1 November. The topic of the competition was ‘Coping with Stress’. The irony of the topic was not lost on the boys who identified and solved a significant issue from an unseen futuristic scenario complete with an action plan all in two hours!! With cortisol levels back under control after a swim, the boys then went on to prepare a dramatic presentation of their best solution. ‘Intense fun’ and a very satisfying result epitomised this privileged experience.
Elmwood School is certainly creating a name for itself among the ‘best of the best.’
