Recognising Sporting Excellence

Jill Evans —

The first of our Senior Student Excellence cups were awarded in Celebration Assembly at the end of last term.

Motivation and success are what drive all of us in whatever pursuit we may choose to undertake. At Elmwood we believe it is important to celebrate the outstanding things that students accomplish, both inside and outside the classroom.  A variety of traditions recognise and support student accomplishment in our school setting. House tokens/points and Principal’s awards acknowledge those that display our school values, certificates recognise achievements in events such as speech competitions, and cups and trophies are awarded to Senior student top achievers in Sport, The Arts, Academic pursuits, Leadership, Endeavour and Citizenship.

Excellence (one of our school values) is about being positive and enthusiastic, giving our best effort to every opportunity or challenge we face. It involves taking risks, aiming high and persevering to overcome challenges. To achieve excellence we need to focus on quality and strive for accuracy. Celebrating our own success and that of others is part of showing excellence. We congratulate the following students who received cups for Sporting Excellence:

  • Boy's Swimming Champion - Tom Griffin

  • Boy's Cross country Champion - Max Inglis
