Year 6 - Boys Basketball
Elmwood Office - August 20, 2023
The games were short fast-paced games of 10 minutes with no stoppages for breaks.
The boys were in a tough group which consisted of St Andrews, St Joseph's Papanui, Thorrington and Lemonwood Grove.
Elmwood won their first game against Lemonwood Grove, then unfortunately lost to St Joseph’s Papanui due to their players who just didn’t seem to miss! They then picked themselves up and won a tough battle against Thorrington and then later defeated St Andrews as well.
Due to our tough group, there was a three-way tie between Thorrington, St Joseph’s and Elmwood. Because we conceded the most points when facing those two teams, that unfortunately dropped us down to 3rd place in our group; meaning we couldn’t advance to the finals.
We then ended up playing and defeating Swannanoa in a ‘3rd place’ battle, before heading back to school.
The boys all played SO well and represented our school with pride. They should be proud of their efforts.
A huge thanks must go out to the parents who provided transport and that came out to support. It was great having you on the sideline, the scorer's bench and running a few practices.
