Year 3 & 4 Team
Welcome to the Middle School, we look forward to working with you and your child as they transition through to the Senior School.
This information is intended to help you and your child during their time in the Middle School. The Middle School is a time of increasing responsibility over learning and developing further independence.
It is our aim to help your child move from learning how to read and write to using reading, writing and maths to learn about their world, their impact, their choices and opportunities. This will prepare them for becoming responsible senior school students.
Sport
Sport in the Middle School is Monday afternoons. Children do not need a sports uniform for this but they are encouraged to wear running shoes on these days.
Kapa Haka
This is led by Rihari Walker and occurs every Thursday for all Middle School children from 1.45 till 2.15pm.
Elmwood Enrichment Programme
At Elmwood each teacher caters for all the different learning styles and abilities within their own classroom programme.
For our enrichment programme we are offering a variety of programmes to meet the learning needs of our more able students. A STEM programme (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) focus will occur, as well as an arts focus. These programmes run across Terms 2 and 3 of the year.
Keeping up to date
Facebook, the School Website and the Newsletter are good places to see what has been happening around the school along with regular notices and photos. Your child’s teacher will also keep you informed through class emails/seesaw.
