Hybrid dual-axis speed sensor with built-in high resolution net sounder

The Marport SPN-155-W "Speed Navigator" sensor has taken the North Atlantic demersal/semi pelagic trawl fleet by storm; a successor to the hugely popular Speed Explorer sensor.

Like the Speed Explorer, the water flow update rate on Speed Navigator is 4x faster than any other flow sensor on the market!

It also includes the new Trawl Navigator High Definition Net Sounder Technology.

Key features/advantages:

TRAWL SPEED AND TRAWL NAVIGATOR in a single unit. Echogram with auto range, target strength values, depth, temperature, along & across speeds
Measures water flow along the direction of the trawl AND across the trawl - displayed as an echogram. This way, you can see fish passing through the trawl and have an overview of the trawl’s opening and the effects of the currents around the rig
Ensure your rig is fishing square
Update rate of flow is 4x faster and more dynamic than Marport TSS or Scanmar TS speed sensors
Includes additional valuable data (depth, temperature, pitch angle, roll angel & battery status)

SPN-155-W Speed Navigator is becoming very popular on North Atlantic demersal/semi pelagic trawlers, and they are used on every tow. The main advantage has been the fact it combines TN (Trawl Navigator) and Trawl Speed together in one unit.

Trawl Speed

Along/Across updates: every 7 seconds
Depth updates every 1 – 8 seconds
Temp, Battery, Altitude, Pitch & Roll updates: every 6 seconds
Across speed range: Up to ± 3 knots
Along speed range: Up to ± 6 knots

Echosounder

Built-in Trawl Navigator

The sounder includes an automatic range mode and can automatically switch to lower ranges of 20, 10 and 5 meters to get sharper pictures. This proves to be particularly useful when fishing close to the bottom.
