Commercial Fishing WASSP Ambassador
Electronic Navigations Ltd - June 15, 2023
Capt. Ant Smith skippers a steel demersal/bottom trawler called FV Donna Maria out of Careys Bay (Dunedin, New Zealand).
Ant is a very experienced captain, and fishes from shallow waters through to ~550m depth (~1800ft / 300fa), harvesting a diverse range of quota'd wild fish species around the southern coast of New Zealand.
Ant's experience and diverse fishing activities are invaluable to WASSP for insight into our technology in action.
The vessel is equipped with a WASSP F3X model Fishing Multibeam, with two separate dual WASSP Computer systems running on the single DRX transceiver:
- with WASSP 'CDX' program, and
- with TimeZero Professional WASSP Interface Program
FV Donna Maria: 18.12m Length Overall | 5.23m Beam | 2.98m Draught | 65GT
Special thanks to Capt. Ant Smith for sharing with us all. It is rare to have a commercial fisher share their fishing information so openly, so we hope you enjoy the photos and videos shared here for an insight into the WASSP F3X Multibeam installation on Donna Maria, and her local fishery.
