Day 1

After being welcomed formally into the beautiful TSB Showplace, our hosts New Plymouth Event Venues will kick off a packed day:

• The day starts with an inspiring keynote speech from Sam Johnson, founder of the Student Volunteer Army, winner of Young New Zealander of the Year, Communicater of the Year and he is on the Board of the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch.

• Katie Querin from Arts Access Aotea and guests will discuss the latest thinking on accessibility.

• Breakout sessions: following up for a deep-dive into accessibility and how that practically impacts your venue or Finance for Venue Managers run by Nelita Byrne (we're fortunate to have Nelita running the session which is the same learning she offers as part of the Venue Management School in Australia)

• Kylie Hawker-Green, Manager New Zealand Major Events at MBIE will discuss how venues can respond to bids and what it takes to run a major event or be part of that in your locality.

Day 2

• Kicking off the day with the Knowledge Cafe which will allow for discussion around key topics as well as in peer groups - like small and regional venues etc.

• Then we're offering a range of breakout options:

  • Casual Staffing

  • Public Speaking/Presenting

  • Marketing

  • Personal Safety

• Opening a Venue - whether a brand new one or a refurbished space. Caroline Harvie-Teare from Venues Otautahi will lead a panel discussion on the considerations, pitfalls, opportunities and learnings this exciting time in avenue's life affords.

• We'll update on training opportunities and share EVANZ's plans for the year.
