Fairfield School Newsletter - Term 4, Week 1

Fairfield School —

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. It is hard to believe we have only 9 weeks left in the school year. Parent-Teacher conferences are in a couple of weeks. Information on this is below in my update. Also, we are starting to organise the class make-ups for 2025. Any requests are due in this week.

Teacher's Only Day Friday 25th October - School Closed

Next Friday 25th October school will be closed as teachers are working on professional development.

2025 Classes

On Friday 25th October,  the teachers will be preparing class lists for 2025. If there is anything you think we need to take into consideration about your child's 2025 class, please contact Jennifer Hicks by email jhicks@fairfieldlevin.school.nz no later than Friday 18th October 2024.

As you will appreciate, we need this information well before we go through the class list process, as trying to make adjustments after our process can potentially impact many children and the structure of learning teams across the school.

🤠 Hat Reminder 👒

The weather is really warming up now and to keep all of our kura safe we require them to wear a wide brimmed hat for outside play. Please can you ensure they have one packed in their bag each day. These can also be purchased from the school office 🙂

🥣 KickStart Breakfast Club

We URGENTLY require support to continue the Breakfast Club mornings.

We would like to thank our parent helper, the lovely Rachel for her amazing support.  We are very fortunate to have our parent helpers Aleashia, Ariana and Liyana supporting each week. We are lucky to have such fantastic parents!

However, we may not be able to run the Breakfast Club without new families coming on board, so that we can continue to support this initiative. We require a parent to help out on Tuesdays in term 4. Please contact Yvonne Nicholson ynicholson@fairfieldlevin.school.nz or phone the office 06-368-5513, if you are keen to make Weet-Bix for our students, one day a week. Volunteers are at school from 8.15-9am approx - your children are welcome to come with you. Thank you.

A big thank you also to our sponsors Sanitarium and our local Anchor Milk suppliers (Fonterra).

Learning -Conferences Term 4

We’re looking forward to our Learning Conferences on the 29th and 30th October! This is a wonderful chance to chat with teachers about how your child is doing and how we can work together to support their learning.

Here’s the schedule:

  • Tuesday, October 29th: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Wednesday, October 30th: 3:10 PM – 5:40 PM

Be sure to save these dates! We can’t wait to see you there and have some great conversations about your child’s progress.

Learning Conferences

Learning Conferences are an important part of growing the home/school partnership, so we encourage you all to come along and learn about your child’s goals, aspirations, progress and achievement.

Teacher-Parent-Student conferences will be held on Tuesday October 29th and Wednesday October 30th. Tuesday October 29th will be a half-day and the school will close at 12:30 p.m., with conferences beginning at 1 p.m. To book your child's learning conference, please go to the School Interviews website www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and enter the code r5u3v

Each conference will be held at school, in your child's classroom. However, if you prefer to have a phone conversation then please book in on the website and let your child's/children's teacher know via Seesaw, that you prefer this option.

🏀 Basketball

"Tumaia, Jabin and Tane represented the Levin Basketball Association Under 14 Boys A team at the AON Regional Championships in Wellington over the holidays. The team performed well in the pool play and earned a spot in the final. They played against Hutt Valley and lead most of the game. Hutt Valley came out strong in the fourth quarter to win 58 - 55. Congratulations to the team and thank you to the adults who helped."

🏑 Under 13 Rep Hockey

Madeleine, Aila, Isabella and Marara participated in the lower north island under 13 hockey tournament representing Horowhenua. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and played extremely well.

⭐️ Dance NZ Made
