We had a large number of students involved in the West Zone Winter Tournament at Hagley Park last week competing for a spot in the Canterbury Winter Tournament to be held later in the month.

 The following teams won their games and will therefore get the opportunity to compete.

Well done also to the netball A team who finished second.  A big thank you to the senior teaching staff who organised the various sports especially Karen R who coordinated the day and to all those parents who came along to help and support.

Rippa Rugby 3rd place in Canterbury

10 students played Rippa Rugby at the Canterbury Championships. Teams were selected from their zones and with a trip to Wellington to play in the Nationals as the prize there was a lot of enthusiasm to win on the day. Our team was made up of three Year 6s and seven Year 5s so we were definitely the youngest to compete. 

Our team ended up second in pool play. Our cross over game was against the top seed from the other pool. We narrowly lost 7:6 to make the playoffs for third and fourth against the team who beat us in Pool play. As a testament to the day we won the 3rd and 4th playoff 5:4 and showed that we had improved our strategy and defence. 

It was a most enjoyable day and we can be proud of our results. Leo was the most fleet footed player in our team with an amazing ability to carve through the opposition to score tries.

Indoor Basketball success - 3rd in Canterbury

Two Fendalton Basketball teams qualified for the Primary Sports Canterbury Indoor Tournament. The top 14 teams from Christchurch represented their zones and competed in fast 10 minute games. The Fendalton Girls Team won the playoff for third place. This was a great effort and the girls can feel proud of their result in a very tough competition.

Volleyball 3rd Place Canterbury Indoor Tournament

Fendalton entered five teams in the Canterbury Indoor Volleyball Tournament. Congratulations to the Fendalton 1 Team who were placed 3rd in Canterbury.
