NYLD:  National Young Leaders Day

Fendalton School —

Every year in cities across the country National Young Leaders Days are held to discuss topics relevant to the students and the positive influence each and every one of them can make within themselves and their community.

This years theme was         E kore au e ngaro

                                                         He kākano i rua

                                                         Mai i rangiātea

I AM A SEED BORN OF GREATNESS

They explored the themes that,

NGARO               sometimes we all feel we have nothing to offer,

KAKANO           within everyone is the potential to make the world a better place.

RUIA                     creating and being in an environment is how we grow

RANGIATEA     we can achieve greatness in big and small ways every day

Speaking to the children were  Aaron Jackson (actor in Pete's Dragon, Shortland St) Anna Galvan (Silver Fern netballer) Matt Brown (hair artist, barber & educator) Adam Gard'ner & Duane Major (crowd funding to buy a beach) and  Daniel Flynn (director of   "Thank you" )

The day was wrapped up with a great performance from Kiwi band Nomad.

Our students loved the day and did a wonderful job of representing our school.

"NYLD was a great experience about the greatness inside us all. My personal favourite speaker was Matt Brown ,a hair artist, who taught us about the importance of kindness. My day was truly inspiring and thank you Mrs Frame for making it happen".
