Fendalton School —

Events from the student point of view.

Volleyball at Hagley Park

Down at Hagley Park, the Fendalton blue volleyball team vs Paparoa st 3 on court 5. It was an exciting game full of twists and turns, but in the end, Fendalton blues won the match with an amazing win of 43 to 34.

Then Fendalton blue vs Elmwood b on court 5 again in an extraordinary game to be remembered. Unfortunately, they suffered a close defeat of 39 to 36. This game was special because it was the Fendalton blues first defeat of the season.

Player of the day was Iris H for the great cooperation she showed. The team player was Minah K for encouraging the team throughout the game, and finally, the most magical moment of the game was when Negine J caught the ball while everyone was rotating on the court. It was a good save.

Ra Whakahira day

Annabelle and I have been out and about getting the scoop on Ra Whakahira. First we started with a whole school assembly where each year group celebrated the hard work they have completed over the year. It was filled with amazing performances that blew our socks off!

After the assembly, we gathered around the flagpole and raised a replica of the famous explorer and former FOS school pupil, Frank Worsleys flag. We then shared a delicious lunch with our whanau. The afternoon saw the year 6s strut their stuff down the red carpet for their “I Wonderland” movie premiere. In year 5 they had a range of exciting things to see including early Canterbury movies. Finally in year 3 they showed of their extraordinary, one of a kind, handmade masks.

This Ra Whakahira was absolutely amazing. It was such a fantastic celebration of learning.
