Yuri Gakuin Elementary School Visit

Fendalton School —

This was an amazing experience, having two cultures come together for eight days. The Japanese girls experienced our kiwi way of life, became involved and enjoyed the differences of NZ life.

Thank you to the host families and the Fendalton buddies. Many friendships have developed, the care and communication during this time was a pleasure to watch. Our children and community are so capable and so lovely to see the Fendalton School Values really shine through. We had many planned experiences in and out of school. We went swimming, visited Orana Park and the Antarctic Centre. We covered some NZ history and culture, we taught them poi, made pikelets and made special NZ Photo frames. There was not a dull moment. There was a tremendous amount of support from the host families to each other, play dates, meeting in town for some scenic exploration, shopping and going out for dinner. I am so proud of our Fendalton students and families who were involved in this. The Japanese Teachers were so impressed that are very keen to visit next year.

Thank you for your support. Raewyn and Karen
