Congratulations

Tessa DW competed in the Southern Schools Cross Country Blowout, - a race organised by South Canterbury as the interregional was cancelled this year. Paul Norton and a few parents put together a team of Canterbury runners called Te Rōpū Oma o Waitaha. A team of 70 competed in Timaru. There were also runners from South Canterbury, Otago and a few from Wellington and Tasman that came down.

Tessa came second in the Year 6 girls which was a fantastic result.

Friday Sport Success

Our winter Friday Sports teams were very successful in their season this year. Our hockey A Team won A grade, winning all their games and was the only unbeaten team. They played Ilam in the finals and won 6:0 in the final. Our Kea team was first in the B grade playing Emmanuel Christian School, and they also won all their games through the competition play. The rugby team was placed second in a very strong A Grade. The Fendalton Ferns netball team was placed third in a very competitive A Grade. The second netball team the Fendalton Netties won their grade as well. The Fendalton Blue Football players were third in their A Grade at Nunweek Park. Table tennis players were also successful. Thank you to all the parents who have made the season fun with their support. The teams have loved competing each week.

Canterbury Primary School Sports Hockey Champions

The Fendalton Hockey Team played outstandingly at the Primary School Sports Winter Tournament. Teams travelled from Greendale, Kaiapoi North, Prebbleton and Christchurch representing their zones to participate at Nunweek Park Turf. Our Hockey team won all their games to finish top of the table. It was a fantastic team effort and the team can be proud of their play, good sportsmanship and support. Natsuki was outstanding as a goal scorer, with her determination and skill. She was very well supported by Anna K, Eddie K, Rosie A, Emily P, and Pippa S, who passed well and were relentless on attack and defence, making good decisions. Laura A was the terminator on defence destroying the oppositions' attempts to go over halfway, ably supported by Emily S, Aimee F, and the last line of defence saving the day with some intelligent play was Lachie H. The team scored 18 goals and only had 2 goals scored against them. The next closest team was Prebbleton who scored 13 goals and had 5 scored against them.

Our rugby and netball teams also competed in the Canterbury Championships and played well. They both missed out on semifinals due to countbacks but had a great day playing sport and representing Fendalton School.
