The Museum & Kate Sheppard trips
Last week the Year 6 and year 5 teams visited the Canterbury Museum and Kate Sheppard's house to learn more about the people of our place.
Year 6 had a big focus being on Frank Worsley, an ex-pupil of Fendalton School. We learnt about his courageous adventure to Antarctica and how he helped lead the people onboard his stranded ship to safety.
At Kate Sheppard's house, we learnt about how people lived, worked and dressed in the time of1893 when New Zealand became the first self-governing nation in the world to grant the vote to all women over 21. The classes also got a chance to play some of the games that children played then.
