Principal's Message - 14th November 2024
Read, Feed, Speed required a bit of revamping today due to the weather. However, we made it work and it has again been a very special day with so many dads and significant whanāu being able to join in and have some fun together.
Yesterday we had a large group of year 4 to 6 students involved at the West Zone Athletics with a lot of great sportmanship displayed as well as some exciting results. Thanks to the parents who assisted with transport.
Staffing for classes for 2025:
In the last newsletter I mentioned that we are starting to look at class placements once classroom staffing was confirmed. I can now share this information. Again we cannot have parents requesting specific teachers but I do invite you to contact me if there are changing circumstances and/or background information that is important for us to consider.
You will notice a few changes in teaching levels. This is great to see that teachers are welcoming changes to grow their professional practices.
We welcome back George Foster from his board-approved year of leave. Theresa Pearson has had refreshment leave for 2025 approved by the board.

Reminder: Teacher Only Day - Monday, November 18, the school is closed for students. The teachers will engage in professional development about the changes occurring with the refreshed curriculum, Te Mātaiaho. The focus areas for 2025 are embedding the new curriculum for English with a structured literacy focus and Mathematics and Statistics.
Rebuild update: It is great to confirm that we remain on track with Harakeke, so years 3 and 4 will be in there for 2025. The next significant feature you will start to see is the decking on both sides, which also links the building to the heritage rooms.
Show Weekend is always a wonderful time for Cristchurch and North Canterbury. I hope you have some great plans for making the most of this long weekend. We will see the children back Tuesday 19 November.
