School Costs
With the new Equity Funding Index model we receive less funding from the Ministry of Education per child than lower-indexed schools receive. As a result, we need to find other ways to fund all the programmes that we want to run for our children. That is why it is so important that we ask for a school contribution from our parent community. Raewyn Saunders - Principal
The School Parent Contribution
This is used to maintain the high levels of staffing and quality resourcing that enhance the learning environment for our children. Amongst other things, this money pays for extra learning resources for mathematics, literacy, science, music, ICT consumables, software licences, iPads and Chromebooks.
The Material Contribution
This is used to pay for paper, art supplies, classroom consumables and a portion of the photocopying bill. Every child uses these resources every day.
The Activity Contribution
This is used to pay for entry and class trips to venues outside the school including the cost of bus transportation. It is also used for performances that are held at school for which there is a charge for children to attend, and some items used in the classroom. These amounts are paid to third-party providers.
For 2024/5 year the contribution amounts have been set at:
School Parent Contribution: – $275 per child or
$550 per family of 2 or more children
Materials Contribution: – $50 per child
Activity Contribution: – $80 per child *
*This does not include contributions for swimming or gym lessons and Year 5 & 6 sports costs which will be advised during the year.
