Fernside Way
The “Fernside Way” is the code of practice that underpins the way we interact and communicate at the school.
In a nutshell… It goes something like this:
We are a team (a village), creating the best environment we can to educate the children in our collective care. The Board, the Staff , Parents and students need to work together to create an environment where this can happen.
This needs three key things:
1) Kindness and caring (a genuine empathy for other people)
2) Acceptance and forgiveness of others. ( We are all different and we all make mistakes)
3) Responsibility we all need to take responsibility for what happens to us and how we react.
The key ingredient in making successful team is trust.
What does this mean in practice …
From the school staff …
We will communicate regularly about what is happening in the school particularly in areas that directly impact on students and their families.
We will make school decisions that create the best learning environment for all children.
We will accept student and family differences and accommodate them to the best of our ability.
We ask of parents.
To stay informed and read the information we send out.
Inform us of important events that impact on your child/children or the school
Forgive us when we make mistakes and find
positive ways to move on.
