Fernside School has existed on the present site for 150 Years. It is our view that it will still be here in another 150 Years. But we suspect it may be a little different. One would expect the world will have changed in many ways. (Some well beyond our thinking and imagination.) The Fernside School Board of Trustees are charged with drawing a ten year strategic plan. While this is predominantly aimed at planning for property maintenance it does force the school to look to the future and make some predictions.
Predictions but not promises next ten years.
Prediction 1 Future: School Roll
The school roll will continue to remain stable and should stay around 280-300 pupils for the next three -five years. There is some development in the area which may have an impact further down the track.
Prediction 2 Future: Curriculum
In the next five years the school will continue to embrace Modern Learning Pedagogy enhancing the collaborative teaching and learning environment.
Time Capsule
A time capsule was planted by the school students during the Jubilee Celebrations in 2014. This is set to be lifted in 2039 when the students are will be in their mid thirties and some of the teachers might still be able to remember.
I wonder how many predictions we have made will come true.
