Carpark & School Dropoff/Pickup Saftey
Reduced visibility and more cars on the road, dramatically increases the likelihood of accidents. Unfortunately mistakes with children and cars can be fatal, so by establishing good habits now we can best ensure our children's safety.
Drop off in the morning:
The front of the school is a NO STOPPING ZONE. Yellow lines are there to indicate this. Although it is tempting to stop your car here when you are the only one in the car park, as soon as there are children moving around this becomes hazardous. Please park your car in the car park and walk your children across the road. It is a safe habit to get into. The carpark has been upgraded in 2022 meaning it is a lot safer and easier to use.
Always walk children across the road until they are safely in the gate. This applies to all children year 0-6. Just because they think they are grown-up, doesn't mean they are. Regular reminders help.
Pick up in the afternoon:
The afternoon pickup can be even more hazardous than the morning. There are a large number of cars, two buses, a number of pedestrians, and cyclists. Although all pupils don't leave from the same gate, approximately 200 students leave the school at 3:00pm. It is very important that children are collected by parents from inside the school gate.
Our Junior School come out at 2:45 to the Drop off/ pick up zone. If they have siblings from other rooms they will also come out at this time. Our first bus also leaves at 2: 45 to 2:50.
Other classes in the school are releases at 2:55.
All children who are being collected must wait at the drop off zone until a parent is present.
Year 7/8 children are allowed to cross the road by themselves, but all other students must cross with a parent.
Parking At School
Any parents who need to park at school should do so in the main carpark at the front.
The staff carpark is for staff cars only. Please do not park in this area or use it as a pick up / drop off point for your children. The Health and Safety of all of our students is paramount and this carpark can be quite busy.
The school has a separate bus bay off Swannanoa Rd. This needs to be kept clear at all times. No pedestrians or cyclists should exit the school through this gate. Please keep all cars away including the bus turning area on the far side of the road.
