This includes two different workouts, to cater for young kids (ages 8-12) and then kids in high school.

Warm-up

  • 10 reps arm circles each way
  • 20 reps trunk twists
  • 20 reps body weight squat
  • 10 leg swings front to back for each leg
  • 10 pushups
  • 50 star jumps

Handles

High Intensity Ball Handling from EGT (start at 30:40 on 21 Ways to Train... Video from EGT)

  • 2 Ball Alternating Dribbling - 3 x 45 sec. (31:49 on video)
  • 2 Ball Alternating Dribble with Jab Step - 3 x 30 seconds (32:50 on video)
  • Cross Drags - 3 x 10 each way (33:20 on video)
  • Slow to Go - 3x10 each way (34:48 on video)
  • Move to Pick-up - 3 x10 each way (35:45 on video)
  • Rhythm Scissors - 3 x 45sec. (36:50 on video)

Form Tune-Up (no hoop)

  • 20 reps - Form Shots Straight Up (1:02 video)
  • 20 reps - Three Finger Drill (1:27 video)
  • 20 reps - Release Timing Drill (1:50 video)
  • 20 reps - Rhythm Drill (2:42 video)
  • 20 reps - Roll Drill (3:14 video)
  • 20 reps - Wall Catch Shots (video 3:28)
  • 20 reps each- Wall Catch + Dribble Pick up Shots (video 3:34)
    • 1 dribble right + shot & 1 dribble left + shot

Beat “Johnny” Shooting Game (with hoop)

  • Choose your favourite star player or idol to play against.
  • Every time you make a shot, you get 1 point.
  • Every time you miss a shot, your star player gets 1 point.
  • First player to 15 wins

Set a time limit on your game. Increase the challenge by giving your star player 2 points for your miss, or decrease the time you give yourself to play.
