Our level 2 hard materials students are building houses. There are 16 students in this class and they are working together to produce 2 chook sheds as part of their programme. Within the programme the students learn quantity surveying, how to plan and execute their project plan, and everything is being created using hand tools. We have based this programme on the BCITO building programme that apprentices complete when working for a builder so our students will be a step ahead if this decide to follow this pathway as a career. The plan is to sell these sheds upon completion. The money made from sales will be fed back into the programme to ensure the following year group are able to do something similar.
