There are many reasons to host a student from another country. From exposure to another culture or language, to the opportunity to meet with and create life long relationships with someone you wouldn't normally.

This year Geraldine High School will be hosting 15 students from China and Japan for a three week period from the beginning of Term 3. The students from China come from Weihai which is the sister city of Timaru and this will be the first time they have visited South Canterbury. The Japanese students come from Shotoku Gakuen.

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring families that are happy to involve their host student in their family. There will be new challenges adapting to a new family member but if you remain patient and understanding and are prepared to be adaptable then it is likely to be a successful experience.
