Swimming - by Lily Jones
Last Wednesday, on the 12th of February, students made a splash at the local Geraldine Domain swimming pool, competing against each other for house points at the annual Swimming Sports.
It was great to see everyone showing house spirit by getting out there and giving it a go, displaying their skills and determination.
The day started out looking as though it was going to rain but soon turned into beautiful warm weather, which was perfect for a day out at the pool.
After a series of thrilling races and tight finishes, we wrapped up with the highly anticipated house relays. In a closely contested race, Cox emerged the winners, with Tripp finishing just behind.
We had two swimmers achieve outstanding results, breaking several of our school records. Ella McDowell, competing in the Year 12/13 age group, set new records in the 100m Freestyle, 25m Freestyle, 25m Breaststroke, and 50m Breaststroke. Thomas Anderson, also racing in the Year 12/13 age group, broke two records: the 50m Butterfly and the 25m Freestyle.
A big thanks to the Geraldine Swimming Club, Michelle Cramond, GHS staff and all student helpers for making the day successful.
