From the Tumuaki
Tena koutou,
Welcome back to Term 3 and I hope that your child has had a good break and chance to recharge for this important term ahead.
Achievement | Whakatutukitanga
The value for this term is ‘Achievement/Whakatutukitanga’. For our Year 11 to 13 students, this is an important term as they get to the business end of their NCEA qualifications. In addition, they will begin planning and preparing for their course in 2024 or pathway from school.
For all of our students, we have things coming up so that you can find out more about how your child is progressing at school this year and get feedback on the next steps in their learning.
Very soon, you will receive your child's report. This should give a clear insight into how their skills, capabilities and knowledge are developing.
I warmly invite you to our Parent/Student/Teacher conferences on Wednesday 16th August which is an essential day to attend to have time discussing your child’s progress. We will also have a number of information seminars that will give you information on NCEA, School’s Vision, Foundation Learning, and Wellbeing. I look forward to seeing you on this day.
Health Workshop
We have a Health Workshop evening on Tuesday 8 August following the survey that many of you had responded to. I encourage you to attend this to be informed on the Health curriculum across our year levels. We have Rachael Dixon, from the University of Canterbury who will join our Health and PE staff in the delivery of this workshop. We will also have Mrs Janie Annear, past Mayor of Timaru District, to facilitate this workshop. We will send more specifics on this evening in a few weeks.
Open Day is also an opportunity for our Year 8 students
On Tuesday 22nd August, we will have another Open Day for those who were unable to attend our last one in mid May. Our Open Day's provide a time for parents of prospective students at any year level to come along and see what we have to offer. It is also a great opportunity for parents of our current students to learn more about the transition to Year 9 and the opportunities that exist at this level.
Student Success
We have lots of success from many of our students across a range of areas particularly over the recent holidays. I encourage you to look at our Facebook page to see these wonderful accomplishments.
I look forward to seeing you all at the various upcoming events that we have this term.
Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā tātou katoa
