Mr Coleman —

Kia ora koutou,

I hope that you all had a wonderful break over Easter and enjoyed the school holidays. Term 2 is progressing quickly with a lot of things happening within the school. This newsletter is full of news about our students and I enjoy seeing all the articles about the things they have been involved in.

This term will see some disruption due to the industrial action planned by the teachers' union. I know this will cause frustration for our families. We will work through this disruption as best we can to try and minimise the impact on students.

This term our value of Manaakitanga - Respect is of extreme importance. At Geraldine High School we are proud of our school and our behaviour is an important way of portraying this pride. There have been instances this year when students have not shown pride in themselves, their school, or their uniform. There will be a focus this term on respect and this will include ensuring our students are wearing their uniforms correctly and behaving respectfully in class and towards others.

Next week we are holding our Open Day from 4 - 6 pm. We will be providing guided tours of the school and each of our departments will be on display. I am looking forward to welcoming families to view the school. I would like to thank the students who are participating in Open Day as tour guides as well as the PTA who will be onsite with some refreshments.

Nga mihi,

Simon Coleman
