When you choose your subjects for next year, it is important to consider a number of different things.
Choose subjects that:
At Year 11 you will take English, Mathematics and Science. You will also choose 3 additional options.
At Year 12 you will take English or Literacy for Work and 5 other subjects.
At Year 13 you will take 5 subjects.
The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is the main qualification for secondary school students in New Zealand.
What will I need to gain each level of NCEA?
NCEA is recognised by employers, and used for selection by universities and other tertiary education providers in New Zealand and overseas.
You only need to meet the literacy and numeracy requirements once, and you do not need to attempt them again for other levels of NCEA. If you haven't quite finished your NCEA at the end of the year you can still start working towards the next level.
