We were lucky enough to have Megan from St John’s to teach Years 7 - 10 First Aid. The reason first aid is taught is because a few years ago a staff member had a heart attack and sadly passed away. Her husband pays for First Aid classes each year to make sure we are prepared if something like that were to happen to people we are with.
We learnt how to do CPR and we also learnt the 3 Steps of Life. Before the lesson ended we got a chance to know how an AED works, where to find one and where the closest one is at school. We came away feeling that if anything happens we will be prepared to help out.
We had a class competition to see who could do CPR the best, the score was out of 100 with a lot of our class getting in the 90’s and some even reaching 100%!
