Primary Industry Academy Update
Level 1 are currently fencing up a storm as they get plenty of
practice in before their assessment day at the end of the month. We planned,
organised and ran the Country Kids Agri Skills completion at the MacKenzie Show
during the holidays, which was hugely successful.
Level 2 continue their on farm placement courtesy of Tim Sowden at Waihi Station and Evan & Claire Chapman’s sheep & beef farm. They have completed their farm bikes slopes assessment with Zettlin McAtamney–Rasch named as the top student.
Level 3 sees Hamish Prattley working at Richard and Jacqui Robinson's dairy farm and Cody Clarke-Wills at Hamish & Danette McKeown's sheep and deer farm. Both boys have been able to tailor their Level 3 course to their specific interests and have made positive starts. They are also part of a pilot cluster group of schools (initiated by GHS) who are working towards their Level 3 Feeding and Pastures qualification. They completed their first classroom day at AgriLearn last Friday and both felt that the PIA course had placed them highly within the class in terms of both knowledge and practical skills.
Wanted - buxus (box Hedging cuttings). Please keep the Primary Industry Academy in mind when you do your garden tidy up. Hedge trimmings, or any other suitable material for taking cuttings, can either be dropped at the school office or we can collect.
