Exploring Culture Through Food
At the end of term two, the Year 9 French Students and some ESOL students had the opportunity to "make and taste" culture:
The Year 9 French Students hosted a celebration over a lunch time, to which parents, Mr Coleman and Year 11 French students were invited.
Our special guest, Claudine Jacques, a French Baker and Chef, tantalised our taste buds with delicious Gallettes and Crêpes.
The students shared slideshows of some of their cultural research and sang a French song for the occasion, after which Mr Coleman handed out the Language Perfect Awards.
In the afternoon, students were able to make their own crepes, under Pauline's guidance.
ESOL students Paul, from Thailand, Nathaniel and Justin, both from the Philippines, ended their term two food module by preparing a lunch they had researched and planned. Each student created a menu and Paul's sushi was chosen as the one to prepare. The boys and I were delighted to be joined by Yuka, from Japan, who guided us through the Sushi-making process. It was delicious!
