The Count Down is on! by Mrs Sarah Foley-Smith

The Count Down is On!!

In a weeks’ time our hardworking teams will be competing in Invercargill in the TeenAg and PGG Wrightson fencing competitions.

Jakob Stachurski & Ben Chambers will complete an exam, speech, farmlet and 8 modules for TeenAg and will be up against 13 other teams from around the country. Mitchell Sowden & Patrick Foley-Smith compete against 6 other Young Farmer teams in the fencing. It will be daunting being the first school team ever to compete at this level and although they will be up against teams with 10+ years of experience ahead of them, the boys have been working hard and are well prepared thanks to Al Johnston Farming Solutions.

GHS is also taking a support team of 6 students who will work for NZ Young Farmers during the competition. It is valuable experience to gain first hand knowledge of how to run a National event. These students will also be judges for the AgriKids completion.

All this would not have been possible without the generous support from our community in terms of time, expertise and sponsorship. In particular, we would like to thank:
