Geraldine High School Swimmers in action
A group of 7 Geraldine High School swimmers has been active during the last few weeks, training in Timaru and Ashburton 3-4 times weekly since the end of the season in mid-March when the outdoor pool closed.
Ben Gould was selected to attend a ParaFed training camp in Christchurch the weekend of 12 & 13th May which was a great opportunity to train with other para-swimmers including Celyn Edwards, a Commonwealth Games medalist.
Ben along with brother Daniel and sister Sarah, Conor Foley- Smith, Robert and Marcus Furrer and Rafael Johnson all competed at the Ashburton Splash meet held on 19 & 20th May. Some outstanding swims were recorded.
Ben (14) logged 6/8 Personal Bests (PB's) with his best placing being 7th in the 14/15 Year Boys 100m Butterfly.

Sarah (11) logged 4/8 PB's and did exceptionally well tackling a gruelling 400m Individual Medley for her first time with a very good 10th placing. She also gained a 5th placing in her 200m Backstroke and a 4th placing in her 100m Butterfly with a big 6 second PB - all 3 events are renowned for being challenging so well done Sarah!

Between the 7 GHS swimmers, they have collected a plethora of qualification times for South Island Town and Country 2019, National Division 2 Champs 2019, South Island Champs 2018 and NZ Secondary School Champs 2018.
