Sports News

Junior and Middle Quad

On Thursday 1st June we sent 4 teams to Ellesmere for the Junior Quad tournament and 3 teams to Mt Hutt for the Middle Quad tournament.

We had mixed results from the Junior Quad.  These were:

  • Rugby - Won 2, lost 1 - placed 2nd
  • Netball Year 7 - Won 2, lost 1 - placed 2nd
  • Netball Year 8 - Won 1, Lost 2 - placed 3rd
  • Football - Lost all 3 - placed 4th

GHS were placed 3rd overall.

At the Middle Quad all games were even and all 3 teams won 2 games and lost 1. With all the points added up Geraldine High School won the Middle Quad.

Well done to all the athletes, officials and teachers for making these two days a success.

We are hosting the Senior Quad here at School on Thursday 15th June.  Read more about that in the next newsletter.

Aoraki Cross Country

We took a strong team of 24 athletes to the Aoraki Cross Country this year. The race was held at Mountain View High School which is a tough, hilly course.

Stephen Harding won the Senior Boys Grade and Tom Harding , Karma Gyeltshen and Jacob Price also ran extremely well to get 2nd in the teams event for Senior Boys.

Kahn Ashton placed 3rd in the Junior boys with strong performances also from Fraser Hunter, Geordie McCully and Matt Harding.

Well done to these boys and the rest of the team for a great afternoon.

Aoraki Cycling

Kate Brown competed in the Aoraki Cycling event held in Timaru on Tuesday 13th June. Kate placed 2nd in both the time trial and Scratch race.

Well done Kate - great effort.
