Year 8 Ski Day at Roundhill Ski Field by Rean Lane Garcia

Year 8 Ski Trip

We all boarded the buses at 7.2 am eager to get up the mountain.

We drove for about 2 hours up a steep track to Roundhill Ski Field.

We arrived at 10 o'clock and jumped off the bus and ran to the ski rental area where we waited in line to get our boots and skis and figured out that it was much colder than we had anticipated so we jumped around to get warm while we waited.

The level 1, 2 and 3 skiers quickly got organised and clicked on their skis and began their lessons at 10.30am. The level 4 and 5 skiers headed up the mountain to have some fun before their lessons started at 12.30.  After all of the lessons, we were all desperate to get away and ski with our friends and we were soon chattering while skiing in groups.

At around lunchtime many of us headed to the cafe to have something to eat, although we soon got bored and headed out to shred up the slopes once again. We got more and more confident and soon the lower level skiers were trying out some new stuff for the first time. Apart from a few “forgetting to break moments” everyone had so much fun racing down and around the slopes.

After more than a few more hours we all returned our gear and boarded the buses once again. We got back to school at around 5.30pm. Tired and happy, we all went home ready to tell the stories to our parents.

Thank you to all of the parents who gave up their time to come and supervise and help us. Also a big thank you to the teachers who made this trip memorable and very fun.
