Are you passionate about schoolboy First XV Rugby? Are you committed to player development? 

The Roncalli Aoraki First XV​ provides a vehicle for players at Geraldine, Mountainview and Waimate High Schools, and Opihi, Roncalli and Mackenzie Colleges to remain loyal to their local communities and educational choices, and be able to play rugby at the highest level. The intention is that these elite schoolboy players return to their home clubs after their schooling and reinvest their experience, spreading the wealth among all the clubs in South Canterbury. 

The Roncalli Aoraki First XV Committee are currently seeking expressions of interest for a HEAD COACH​ for 2018 and beyond to lead the Roncalli Aoraki First XV ​in the Crusaders UC Championship, providing high quality coaching, leadership and management. 

Applicants must have: 

  • a proven record in rugby coaching 
  • a strong philosophical ethos of why players play the game and the player/ coach relationship 
  • demonstrated people management skills required to lead a high-performance environment 
  • shown the ability to inspire a team while at the same time working with players individually to develop their skills to a high level 
  • a high level of tactical and technical expertise 
  • a commitment to develop senior schoolboy rugby across the Aoraki region and support the ethos and mission of the team Desired attributes 
  • experience with working with school age players 
  • have the potential of an identified ‘coaching team’ in place if successful.

The time commitment for this role goes beyond traditional club expectations due to pre season commitments, the length of the season and travel involved.
