New Zealand has recently been ranked as number 1 in the world for educating students for the future. The Economist Intelligence Unit which ranked New Zealand in this top position, uses data and insight to look at how innovation can be used to create sustainable competitive advantage on the world stage.
What this means is that we scored well because of the following:
- curriculum framework for future skills (this includes BYOD and other technology)
- teacher education
- career counselling in school
- cultural diversity and tolerance
What the employers of tomorrow are looking for are:
- reading skills
- numeracy skills
- computer proficiency
We should be proud of our number one ranking. To help make our students more ready for that every changing future, we have teams of talented and dedicated teachers who regularly meet to discuss issues. I belong to both the International and E-learning committee and all of the teachers in these groups believe passionately about increasing the cultural awareness and tolerance of our students as well as making today’s innovations and technology available equally to our students. We are trying to equip your child for tomorrow, help us to do this by allowing your student access to a device and encouraging cultural awareness.
