PIA Update by Mrs Sarah Foley-Smith

Primary Industry Update

It has been all go for our students this month with never enough hours in the day. Between them the 3 Levels have worked every weekend, organised the A & P Show, had guest speakers, run TeenAg meetings and a fencing day for other schools, attended 5 field trips, placement days each week and started fundraising. All of this could not be possible without the continued support of our fabulous parents and community - we have needed 35 sets of parent help this Month!

Four Peaks Transport have joined us this year as our major sponsor in supplying our shirts.

Mark & Karen Woodley & Port Blakely have donated the firewood.

Moffitts Dairy supplied the loader for firewood.

Temuka Transport a truck for firewood.

Rylib farms and Rangitata Dairies are major sponsors for the FMG young Farmer Competitors.

Geraldine Fish Supply sponsorship.

Clara Farming Sponsorship.

Level 1 have visited the Silver Fern Farms food processing plant at Pareora to see the lamb and beef chains. 5 managers gave up their morning in order to show us all aspects of the process and overwhelmingly the students rated the visit as highly informative. With Mrs F-S ranking the visit more in terms of the reaction to blood and guts with the fainting tally sitting at zero which bodes well for visiting Kelly Bennett's Deer Embryo Transfer operations this week.

Both Level 1 & 2 have been rouging fodder beet in Woodbury- thank you to Hamish & Dannett McKeown and Alister Holmes.

Roger Johnson has been in as our farmer guest speaker, students have completed Farm bikes and tractor days at AgriLearn, students worked at the Dog Trails at Waihi Station and fundraising is beginning to get serious.
