Kaurilands Kindy Planting

Kaurilands Kindy Planting Recount

On Tuesday the 6th of July in block 4 , Room 16 joined Kaurilands Kindy and Eco Matters to plant some trees. Speedily, excitedly and rapidly, we all arrived at Kaurilands Domain. Scattered around the fresh green grass, there were small plants all ready for us all to plant. Young children from the kindy were standing there, round eyed and looking at us.

An Eco Matters staff member called Maggie introduced herself and demonstrated how to plant a healthy tree. First of all, Maggie told us to press the spade into the ground and make a square shape. Next, we had to dig out the soil that was inside the square a little deeper than the length of the roots on the plant. After that, we had to place the plant inside the hole we had dug. Then, Maggie told us to put the soil we had dug out into the space left in the hole. Finally, we had to pack the soil down so that Pukekos and other birds and animals could not dig into the plant and ruin it. My buddy was called Tui, we planted 2 plants following the instructions. I can’t wait until next time.
