Introducing Karekare Mini School Class and Vice Councillors for 2020

Congratulations to the students who have been elected from Rooms 1-8 and 17 to represent Karekare mini school on the school council this year. Read to find out a little more about them.

Room 1:  Shaakira Ali - Class Councillor

My name is Shaakira.  A few things about me, I love spending time with my friends, participating in outdoor activities and baking. My life outside of school consists of me having fun with my family and goofing around with close friends. I would like to make this year tremendous for my fellow students enhancing their GEIS experience. A personal goal for this year is to excel in all learning areas and beat my own personal records.

Isobel Mitchell - Vice Councillor

My name is Isobel. I love baking and playing outdoors. I love mountain biking and swimming and reading, spending time with my friends and family and watching TV. I want to make sure that Year 8's have the best graduation ever and that people at GEIS will have a great time. I am proud to be the vice councillor for Room 1 and hope to make changes in the school where needed.

Room 2: Kirah Vaega-Phillips - Class Councillor

My name is Kirah. I was the head girl for Arahoe Primary school in 2019. I enjoy cooking and baking, singing, dancing, and acting.  I am the oldest of 4 girls and I love to play sports. This year as a councillor I would like to make sure that students have their best intermediate year. Before I leave intermediate I will aspire to be a student leader in 2021 and a personal goal would be to apply for Head Girl at the end of the year.  I will strive for excellence in everything I do.

Jacob Mattar - Vice Councillor

My name is Jacob.  I live with my parents and am an only child.  I love to draw and do art. I like doing animation.  I enjoy helping others solve problems and help them with their work.

Room 3: Vashone Vea - Class Councillor

Malo e lelei, my name is Vashone Vea.  I am 11 years of age, I'm a proud Tongan boy. I'm a very strong believer in our Saviour Jesus Christ. I am the oldest of three siblings and the only boy. I'm really competitive in sports, especially rugby league. I strive to always put family, friends and others before myself.

Sammi Su - Vice Councillor

My name is Sammi.  In my free time I love hanging out with my friends and family. One thing I really enjoy doing is playing sports. Some of my favourite types of sports to play are touch, quick rip, cross country and netball. Another thing I enjoy doing out of school is baking/cooking, I enjoy it because it's relaxing and it's something I could do with the whole family. 

Room 4: Mohammad Soleyman - Class Councillor

My name is Mohammad. As most of you would know I have a sensational twin brother who studies in Room 20; also shout out to my astounding parents, In my free time, I usually study/schoolwork or game with my friends. My goal for this year at GEIS is to make sure I set a good foundation and arrange myself for high school. I have future aspirations to attend Cambridge University in England. My favourite subject at school is Math, and my least favourite subject is Reading. I also find writing rather enjoyable. I hope I can make a huge impact towards this magnificent school and make sure it ameliorates and flourishes. 

Cooper Mason - Vice Councillor

My name is Cooper.  I am someone who enjoys playing around, working hard and creating friendships. I love to extend myself in every subject with my favourite being philosophy every Wednesday. In the future I would wish to be a human rights lawyer or a brain surgeon. In my free time I make Youtube videos. I love GEIS and I can't wait to help people.

Room 5: Annika Aaron - Class Councillor

My name is Annika, I’m thirteen and I live with my parents and brother Rukun. I love hanging out with all of my friends and skateboarding with them. I also like walking, and drawing. When I am older, I think I’d want to become either a doctor, writer or lawyer.

Kaitlin Thomas - Vice Councillor

My name is Kaitlin.  I live with my lovely younger brother George and my kind, loving parents. In my free time out of school I love to hangout with my friends and family. My favourite hobbies are dancing, football and running. I play football for Oratia United.  I will strive confidently and positively to make GEIS enjoyable.

Room 6: Quinn Pirrit - Class Councillor

My name is Quinn.  I have three siblings, my younger brothers Louis and Bo and Billie my older sister (who was GEIS Deputy Head Girl when she was here). In my free time, I like to go to pump tracks, rugby games, Xbox, and play with friends and family.  I love to go to the local beach and swim, paddle board etc. My dad is fun, he has bought all these vehicles to keep us entertained, we have a boat, a thunder cat, a tractor, 9 paddle boards. My mum is artsy, and she likes biking, swimming, and coffee. She is still cool, even if she teaches in Te Henga mini school. 

Fayzan Ghamry - Vice Councillor

Hi, my name is Fayzan. I’m Indonesian and I have one older brother named Sultan, he went to this school when he was younger and loved art. My Dad is a technician and fixes automatic doors.  My mum works at a daycare with toddlers.  I love food and like to cook but only simple things like breakfast. My hobbies include video games, and playing with my homemade slingshot. I also really like finger boarding, it's like skateboarding, but with your fingers instead. It's perfect for rainy days when you can’t play outside.  As a vice councillor I will do my best to make this school a better, more fun place for education.

Room 7: Porter Hooper - Class Councillor

My name is Porter.  In my spare time I like to play sports, Ps4 and I love to read. I like to go to the movies and rugby games

Samantha Morgan - Vice Councillor

My name is Sammie and in my spare time, I enjoy reading, and I have several favourite book series and am always finding new books to enjoy. My favourite sport is swimming and I have grown up going to the beach with my family all the time and would happily swim for hours on end. In my family I have my mum, my dad and my brother, I also have two cats and they are so cute and super fluffy.

Stanley Shields - Vice Councillor

My name is Stanley, in my spare time I am a HUGE car freak. I play car simulators and do projects every now and then with my uncle, who like me is a car freak. At home, I read, game, eat, sleep, and repeat.

Room 8: Benjamin Anderson - Class Councillor

My name is Ben. I enjoy playing football, using technology, and most importantly, riding my scooter. I ride my scooter at least 2 hours every day, with my friends. I also like playing video games on XBox.

Kendra Scally Tui - Vice Councillor

My name is Kendra.  I have two step sisters.  I am very sporty.  I play rugby, touch rugby and sprinting.  I love making new friends.  I am enjoying helping different people with their work. 

Room 17: Zephaniah Tuaoi - Class Councillor

My name is Zephaniah Tuaoi I am 12 years old. I have a love for the game basketball and was in the Waitakere Samoan Under 15 Team.  I am also a singer and a rapper. I have also been a cultural leader for Pasifika students for about 5 years. I really love maths and was selected for ICAS. I sang at my graduation in 2018 at St Leonards Road School, it was a very special moment for me and my family.

Hunter Sydall - Vice Councillor

My name is Hunter.  I have a younger sister and lots of animals. My favourite things to do out of school is to play rugby and cricket.  I go hunting in the Coromandel with my family.  As a councillor I have enjoyed showing people around GEIS.
