GEIS Board of Trustees Update

Jacob Prisk —

Kia Ora Glen Eden Intermediate Whānau,

As we reach week ten of term two, the Board of Trustees extends a warm welcome to all our families and Whānau. Matariki holds a special place in the hearts of many of us, symbolising a time of reflection, celebration, and new beginnings. It is a time where we come together as a community to honour our heritage and look to the future with hope.

At our school, we take pride in fostering a culture where all celebrations are embraced, and diversity is celebrated. We are grateful for the leadership and guidance of Fender, our Maori board representative, and the efforts of all our staff involved to be able to create a special Matariki celebration for the community to share. Thanks for the doing the mahi.

We would also like to express Aroha and thanks to our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our Matariki Exhibition of Learning is a success. Their commitment to providing enriching educational experiences for our students is truly commendable. Not to mention we must praise our students for their dedication, hard work, and impressive learning milestones as they prepare to showcase their achievements this last week of term.

In term one, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase of a large laser cutter for the hard materials class. Under the leadership and guidance of our hard materials Kaiako, Mr. Andy Boyd, a learning program is being developed and trialled in the AKO class this year, with plans to benefit all students in their curriculum 2025. We were thrilled to witness the impressive work completed by the students on the machine, showcasing their creativity and skills.

On a property update, we are pleased to announce that the construction of our new Muriwai classrooms 31-34 is progressing well and is scheduled to be completed by the end of term three. This development is a testament to our commitment to providing positive learning environments for our students.

As we approach the holiday break, we encourage all families and Whānau to stay safe and enjoy a well-deserved rest. We eagerly anticipate the start of term three and the exciting opportunities it will bring for our school community.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in our community to ensure we are creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment at Glen Eden Intermediate.

Kia haumaru, kia tupoto

Be safe and take care
