Congratulations to the students who have been elected from Rooms 26-34 to represent Muriwai minishool on the school council this year. Read to find out a little more about them.

Room 26: Aidan Wemyss - Class Councillor

Kia Ora my name is Aidan Wemyss and I was elected as Room 26’s Class Councillor this year. Though I was locally born I have a rich and varied ancestry including people from Wales, Sweden, Holland and Hungary. I enjoy academic challenges such as sudoku, math puzzles, reading and logic puzzles. I also enjoy playing soccer for Glen Eden United Sports Club.

Brielle-Jane Dahunan - Vice Councillor

Kamusta! My full name is Brielle-Jane Laguna Dahunan, and I am the Vice Class Councillor this year in Room 26. My family is from the Philippines. My hobbies are singing, art, reading, cooking, taking care of plants, listening to music, and writing songs. What I would like to achieve as a Vice Class Councillor is to help students learn more things, to inspire them, and to help them enjoy their year at GEIS. I have two amazing loving parents who always take care of each other and our family, and I have three awesome, hilarious sisters, and one amazing brother in law (one of my sisters got married this year!). 

Room 27: Aydan Vaega-Phillips - Class Councillor

Talofa, My name is Aydan Vaega Phillips & I was chosen to be the Class Councillor for Room 27 this year. I was born in Auckland & I am from Samoa, Tuvalu & the Cook Islands. Some of my hobbies are sports (especially softball) & I also enjoy school very much. As a Class Councillor for 2022 I would like to do my best to try & help include other students' ideas to improve the school for them & their class environment.

Sophie Lockton - Vice Councillor

Hi my name Sophie.  I live with my mum, dad and a younger brother.   I play netball, I do jazz and sailing.  I love hanging out with my friends.  As a Vice Councillor I would like to make a difference at GEIS.  

Room 28: Enzo Cruz - Class Councillor

Kia ora, my name is Enzo Cruz and I was elected for Class Councillor for Room 28 in 2022. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and messing around. I also like drawing and painting during my free time, creative things are a lot of fun! I enjoy playing and participating in sports, I always try my best. On the topic of trying my  best, studying and academics is one of my major strengths and I will always try no matter the situation.

Izzy Webb - Vice Councillor

Kia ora my name is Izzy and I'm the Vice Class Councillor for Room 28 2022. I'm super excited to be on the school council this year. GEIS is an amazing school and I am happy I get to give back. A little bit about me is I love to dance and have been doing it since I was 4 and the dance style I do is ballet. I also enjoy baking and I really like hanging out with my friends in my spare time.

Room 29: Ryan Barnes - Class Councillor

Kia ora, my name is Ryan Barnes and I’m happy to be elected as Class Councillor for Room 29. This is my second year of being on the school council. My favourite things to do in my free time are looking at maps, history and gaming. I am proud to be on the school council and plan to work hard representing my class.  

Ruby Rae - Vice Councillor

Kia ora, I'm Ruby Rae and I'm so grateful because this year I was elected as Vice Councillor for 2022 . My class is Room 29 in Muriwai. In my spare time I like to skateboard and draw. I also love sports. My mum's English and my dad's Maori.  Dad grew up in Maketu and my mum grew up in a Newcastle. In my role on the council this year I would like to organise fundraising for charities. I thought we should fundraise for kids who can't buy uniforms. I am working to ensure that GEIS students get their voices heard. 

Room 30: Kai Oki - Class Councillor

Kia Ora, my name is Kai Oki and I am the Class Councillor of Room 30. I am 12 and I love playing sports, being outside and playing video games. As a Class Councillor I want to help GEIS become an even better school than it is now. I'm enjoying my role this year.

Aayush Ghosh - Vice Councillor

Kia ora, My name is Aayush Ghosh and I am the Vice Councillor of Room 30. I was born in Auckland, New Zealand but my parents are from India. Some things that I like to do are complex maths equations, playing sports and playing video games. As a councillor, I would like every student In GEIS to be heard and to have their own opinion about how to make school a better place.

Room 31: Amelie Finn - Class Councillor

Kia Ora, my name is Amelie Finn and I have been voted Class Councillor in Room 31. I love playing sports, being with animals and just enjoying the outdoors. My family and I do lots of things together and we like to spend a lot of our time at the beach. As Class Councillor, I am working to make sure the people of GEIS get to enjoy the opportunities that are available and that they have a stress free time while at Intermediate.

Tayla Wood - Vice Councillor

Hi my name is Tayla Wood and I'm proud to be the Vice Councillor for Room 31.  My hobbies are horse riding and lots of sports. I'm lucky to live on a farm in Oratia and have lots of animals to look after. I'm enjoying Year 8 here at GEIS before high school. I want to ensure that everybody has a great time at GEIS.  

Room 32: Sana Shawrikar - Class Councillor

I’m Sana Shawrikar and I'm Class Councillor for Room 32. I am 11 years old and I like playing badminton, and swimming. I also have an older sister. As a Class Councillor I want to make sure that all students are able to participate in the opportunities that GEIS offers.

Cisco Glazer - Class Councillor

Kia Ora my name is Cisco Glazer and I am Vice Councillor of Room 32. In my spare time I like to play football and go swimming.  I am 12 years old.  I am very proud that I was elected onto the council this year and I am keen to hear other people's ideas for making GEIS fun.

Room 33: Sapphire Lorigan - Class Councillor

Kia Ora my name is Sapphire.  I am the Class Councillor in Room 33.  I live with my dad and brother.  I like to bake, play netball and hang out with friends.  One of my favourite places to visit is the top of the North Island, my family and I always go there on holiday.  I want to continue to work on making things happen at GEIS and guiding students in the school so they have fun.

Georgia Mackey - Vice Councillor

Hello my name is Georgia.  I live in Glen Eden and I live with my parents, my two sisters and my nanny.  In my free time I like to listen to music and play netball and catch up with my friends.  I like GEIS because it gives students a lot of opportunities and new things to learn.  As part of the school council, I want to help students in need.

Room 34: Phoenix Clayton - Class Councillor

Kia ora my name is Phoenix Clayton and I am the Class Councillor Ruma toru tekau ma wha. Some of my hobbies are going out with my friends, playing sports and most importantly hanging out with my family. I have an older brother, a younger brother and a younger sister. I am proud to be on the school council and I am enjoying working alongside my fellow councillors.

Porsha Apiata - Vice Councillor

Kia Ora, my name is Porsha Apiata and I'm Vice Councillor in Room 34.  I am Maori and my family are from Rawhiti.  I love to spend time with my family and my dog.  I love to play netball, volleyball and try new sports.  As a Vice Councillor this year I hope to learn how to be an effective leader.
