Principal's Message

Maree Stavert —

Term 4 is always the busiest time of the year for intermediate schools as we negotiate end of year events as well as facilitating transition processes for our our incoming Year 7 cohort and our Year 8's moving to high school.   Additionally, like all schools across the country, we are also attempting ensure that planned activities that were affected by lockdowns go ahead in Term 4 where possible. This all adds up to a very busy calendar that we hope will not be disrupted again.

The good news is that students and staff have returned this term with high levels of positive energy.  Over the last couple of weeks we have already been busy with a number of sports field days, EOTC trips and the re-opening of the swimming pool and Bird Walk area.  In amongst all this activity, we are regularly reminding students of the importance of staying focused on their learning, following our school rules and being kind and respectful to others.  These messages are reinforced in classrooms and to the whole school through our daily Cactus TV show.  It also makes a difference if these messages are backed up in discussions at home. Simple things like having pride in wearing correct uniform can make a big difference to the tone in the school.  We also are continuing to trouble shoot inappropriate on-line behaviour on social media that is occurring outside of school hours.  This was a subject of focus in our July newsletter which you many like to refer back to if you have concerns about your child's on-line interactions:
