No Chewing Gum at GEIS

Jacob Prisk —

Regular chewing, or in the case of younger kids, swallowing the gum, can result in some dental and overall health problems.

These include digestive tract issues, abdominal pain, mouth ulcers, jaw pain from the repeated chewing motion, dental decay, and cavities.

After chewing, most individuals throw the waste part of chewing gum everywhere, resulting in environmental trash known as 'gum pollution'. Each year, chewing gum generates more than 105 tonnes of "plastic" garbage.

We are finding students are using their lunch money to stop at the dairy and buy gum and lollies and then bringing them to school.

An easy way to ensure your child gets healthy food is by placing an order at our school tuck-shop online. This ensures your child gets a healthy  lunch  :)
