Introducing our 2023 student leaders

Jude Hancock —

At the end of 2022 the student leaders for this year were chosen. These students will lead the student council and various events throughout the year.

Emma Jones

Kia Ora, Sawadee Ka and hello I’m Emma, and I’m very excited to be one of the 12 lovely student leaders for this year. I have participated in a couple of great opportunities last year and am ready to take part in some more. I enjoy playing sports but mostly netball, water polo, swimming, and long distance running. I encourage you all to try to be a part of something this year at GEIS, whether it is a sport, production or a club! If you see me around, feel free to say hi, introduce yourself, and ask questions if you're unsure with anything.

Waiaria Rihari

Kia ora! My name is Waiaria and I am so grateful to be one of the twelve student leaders, guiding GEIS for 2023. This past year I have helped out in many different ways across the school. Whether it be touring new students, helping with kapa haka, or filming our annual kaupapa on the couch episodes. I advise everyone to give something a go because many of the opportunities that GEIS offers can help you find a spark for a new hobby that may stay with you forever. If you see me in the playground or corridor don’t be afraid to give a wave and say hello. I am always happy to help so make sure to come to one of us student leaders if you have any concerns or things you may be confused about. Make sure to have a great year and have lots of fun!!

Hi, I’m Lily and I am very excited to be one of Glen Eden's student leaders and sports captain for this year. As you could probably see in my introduction I am Tongan and European. I am very competitive with everything, games, sports sometimes even with math. I’m super sporty, but my main hobby is netball. I hope you have all seen the opportunities this school provides and put your name down for it, whether it’s production, kapa haka, sports and so many more. I am in Karekare minischool. Don’t forget to say hi to me if you see me around. Remember, “Just try new things. Step out of your comfort zone, and soar, all right?”

Hope to see you around, Lily.

Joshua Poutu

Talofa lava, kia ora and malo e lelei, my name is Joshua Poutu. I am most grateful to be one of the twelve student leaders here at GEIS in 2k23. The reason why I wanted to be a student leader at GEIS is because I want to lead this school by example and do the same thing I do when I am off and on the field and that is lead my team and also lead our school and to inspire our team here at GEIS. This year I was more than welcome to be one of the sports captains for Karekare. So about myself, the sports I play are rugby, touch, ripper tag, volleyball and basketball. What I am about to say is take any opportunity that stands and comes your way cause you never know cause there’s people who would want to take that opportunity so go hard go be yourself.

Anja Pritchard

Talofa, kia ora and hello my name is Anja and im privileged to be one of your student leaders for 2023. This year I was also lucky enough to be one of nine sports captains for Te Henga. I wanted to be a student leader to inspire GEIS to perform their very best and accomplish their goals. As a pupil here at Glen Eden I've competed at a handful of zone days, warriors sports camp and AIMS games.

I would consider myself as very competitive and would do ANYTHING to win, I'm very passionate about family, culture, faith and most important sports.  You will always spot me with a rugby ball so, don’t be shy and say hi.
