Principal's Message

Maree Stavert —

At GEIS, our school vision is to provide 'an engaging environment full of opportunities and choice' and as you look through this newsletter you will see many examples of this vision in action.  We aim to ensure students experience not only the breadth of the curriculum, but also a variety of enriching activities that empower them to grow as learners in a variety of contexts.

Term 2 has been packed full of these opportunities and it has been exciting to see so many of our students getting involved and excelling in a variety of areas.  Of course, none of this is possible without our amazing team of teachers and support staff who frequently go above and beyond for our students.   This often involves many hours outside of the school day planning and preparing activities, running practices and, this term, writing reports.  We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated, hard-working staff that are committed to making difference for our students.

A special thank you to all the parents and whanau who attended Celebrations of Learning yesterday afternoon and evening. These celebrations are part of our goal to ensure our students are active participants in assessing their own learning and sharing their progress with their parents and whanau.  With mid-year progress reports being sent home today, parents/caregivers should all have a clear picture of their child's progress throughout their time at GEIS.

In closing, I would like to wish you all the best for the up-coming school holiday break.  For some this may be a chance to get away for a holiday or for others the opportunity for a slower pace over the next couple of weeks.  Hopefully the weather will also play it's part!
