Spartans Sports Camp 2019: 5th - 9th August

Matt Balchin —

What an awesome week. The sun stayed out all week and quality sport was played by everyone.

GEIS placed 5th overall out of 8 schools. Our team was playing against the top athletes from other schools including Henderson, Kelston, Avondale, Murray's Bay, and Fairfield Intermediates.

As coaches, we are very proud of all our students for the way they represented GEIS. Teachers, parents, and athletes from other schools spoke highly of all GEIS students throughout the whole week.

Our Year 7 students were introduced to the long days and non-stop, action-packed days of sports camp - competing in multiple sports, often with back to back games from breakfast through until bedtime! This shows why all the pre-camp fitness training sessions are so important as our team soldiered on through the ups and downs leaving nothing left in the tank. There were definitely some tired and sore bodies but everyone continued on with a smile. As a team, we had lots of laughs and fun along the way while trying many new sports including croquet, warball, indoor football, wallball, human foosball, cheerleading, and triathlon.

A massive thank you to our parents and teachers, Mr Balchin, Freda, Tineke and Damo. The support, encouragement, coaching, late nights, early mornings, dinner duties, washing, all made easier by an awesome team.

Thanks to everyone who made the trip down to support us!
