Sports Camp - Registration to Trial
Every year Totara Springs (Matamata) hosts several Year 7 & 8 Sports Competitions. The Intermediate Schools Sports Camp consists of over 20 different sporting codes throughout a whole week.
Glen Eden Intermediate first entered this competition in 2003 and we have had some outstanding results.
We have entered our school into three sports camp competitions, our teams will be Gladiators, Warriors and Spartans.
GLADIATORS Sports Camp date: 28th June – 2nd July
WARRIORS Sports Camp date: 5th July – 9th July
SPARTANS Sports Camp date: 9th August – 13th August
When the teams are selected we expect our students to be 100% committed to our training programme. We have most of our training sessions at 7.30am or lunchtimes at GEIS.
We only have 38 positions available in each team, so not every student trialling will be selected. We also take into consideration the students’ performance at recent zone days.
We are looking for students who are all-rounders, they are capable across 2-3 different codes, maintain a good level of fitness, have a willingness to work hard, display the GEIS values, are up to date with their school work and show a commitment to our trainings.
The process of selection for Sports Camp starts in term one.
1. Students wanting to trial for Sports Camp attend Special Fitness in term one weeks 2 - 10
2. Parents register their child to trial in ONE sporting code. This must be done by Friday 12th March
3. Trials will be held from 24th March – 15th April
4. Teams Selections will be made early Term 2.
5. Director of Sport and appointed coaches make the final selection
6. All students selected for Sports Camp across the three teams must attend special fitness 11.30am-11.45am
