Fitness and PE

Vaimoana Vaai —

We encourage all our students to maintain regular participation in enjoyable physical activities in a range of environments. Our PE lessons are based on teaching the fundamental skills of sports and encouraging participation.

SCHOOL WIDE FITNESS

School wide fitness happens EVERY DAY (11.30am-11.45am)

This is COMPULSORY for all students

· PE Gear must worn at fitness (for health reasons)


PE FITNESS ASSESSMENT

The school has a series of fitness assessments to be completed twice a term. The test results will be completed for each individual based on cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and endurance.

Fitness Assessments:

  1. Beep Test

  2. Strength Testing - Push Ups

  3. Strength Testing - Sit Ups

  4. Agility Test - Star Run / Step Ups

Assessment grading is different for boys and girls.

Weeks 1 -6: Swimming

Week 7: Fitness Assessment

Weeks 8-10: Cricket/Tennis

Term 2:

Weeks 1-5: Football

Week 6: Fitness Assessment

Weeks 7-10: Basketball

Term 3:

Weeks 1-3: Ki O Rahi

Week 4: Fitness Assessment

Weeks 5-8: Quick Rip

Weeks 9-10: Volleyball

Term 4:

Weeks 1-5: Athletics

Week 6: Fitness Assessment

Weeks 7-10: FlippaBall/Water Safety
